What is Backgammon?
Backgammon is one of the oldest known board games — its history goes back nearly 5,000 years to ancient Mesopotamia. It's a two-player game: each player has fifteen checkers that move around twenty-four triangles (points) according to the roll of two dice. The first to bear off all fifteen checkers wins.
How to play
- Roll the dice.
- Move your checkers by the numbers shown, with the mouse or touch.
- Bring all your checkers into your home area, then bear them off.
Tips
- Don't leave lone checkers. A single checker on a point can be hit and sent back.
- Build blocks. Two or more checkers on a point make it safe and block your opponent.
- Race when you're ahead. If you're leading, focus on getting home fast.
